Many law students enter law school with the goal, hope and dream of making law review. Many law students set this goal without fully understanding what the honor of making law review is all about. The legal community bestows praise and adulation on law review members --from Supreme Court Justices to authors of popular legal thrillers to America’s most prestigious law firms. Despite the praise, adoration and interest heaped on this institution and the thousands of lawyers who served as law review members and law students who currently serve as law review editors, much of what goes on inside the hallowed halls of America’s law schools remains shrouded in secrecy. Lrev: shatters the silence, opens the doors and lets it all out. Find out what really happens once the grades are ranked and the writing competition is over. Find out what really happens on law review. Lrev details Roy S. Gutterman’s experiences as the editor of his law school’s law review. With a colorful cast of characters, this book explores the inner workings of law review life: the pressures of publishing a scholarly law journal, the tensions between authors and editors as well as editors and editors, controversies of plagiarism, cheating, law school politics and personal and professional relationships forged and broken. Along with his personal account, Gutterman also provides a chapter detailing the historical development of law review as an institution in American law schools as well as a glossary of relevant terms. |
